Weekend Range Results....

I was having so much fun, I forgot to take pictures....but, nevertheless, here's how the executive summary of a good, long shooting session.

DSM Savage:  Used my test batch of 'Freedom Munitions' Match HPBT 175gr; shot 20 rounds in five, 3 shot groups and one 5 shot group.  Results:  On par with Federal 175gr Premium loaded w/Sierra HPBT Matchking.  Good performance; about 7/8's inch at 100 average.  Still a step down from Berger.  So, the other 20 rounds goes in the range box, and if the price comes down a bit, more to go in the larder.

'Go To' AR:  Standard performance at 100; shot about 40 rounds both slow and rapid.  Rifle does what it's supposed to.  Happy DTG!

Stoeger M3000 Freedom:  Slugs at 25 to put it on paper; 3 out of 4 just about through the same hole in the deadnuts center of the target!  Nice ghost rings site on the gun had a lot to do with it.  Slugs at 100:  All rounds centered but the vertical spread was 6 to 10 inches between holes.  Don't know if it was me or the ammo purchased.  More testing required.  Buckshot at 25 meters.  First round aimed center mass, and pellets hit in the neck and right shoulder of the target - 6 of 9 pellets impacted.  9 more rounds aiming at the belly - all rounds impact from 'lungs' to crotch - 72 pellets out of 81 impacted.  Not too bad for its maiden voyage

This shotgun has absolutely NO issue with rapid fire at all.  The inertia system is exactly like Benelli's, and other authors are correct:  It's a Benelli M4 at less than a third of the price.  Cleaning was a breeze.  Wiped out the chamber (didn't 'need' to, but did it anyway).  Barrel was the worst, and that took about, ohhhhhh.....5 minutes.

Well, that's how it went.  How'd your range day go?
