Cold Steel Tanto - The Original...Updated Price

Image
After receiving some good information about the value of this particular blade, I've cut the price in half.   For someone looking for a blade that will take a lot of meat from the bone.... Made in Japan, sold from Ventura, California.  Year of manufacture unknown, but I've had it for a number of years.  Excellent shape, some small scratches on the blade; it looks to have been polished as the printing is light.  Edge is 'as new' (can't guarantee it). My loss is your gain. Reason for selling?  I need the money for high priorities...if I didn't, I would NOT sell this gem! First email confirming $200 sale takes it and I'll update this post as 'Sale Pending'; free shipping.  Once payment received in USPS MO, I'll ship within 2 days. You're looking at the knife you'll get. Email:  defensivetraininggroup@live.com

If You Haven't Read This One...You Should; and if You Have, You Should Read it Again....

It's very instructive.  Some years ago, a close friend told me about this book.  He was a career soldier, airborne and ranger qualified, and West Point educated.  I've never regretted buying the book and reading it several times over the years.  I learn something new every time I read it. Go and do the same.

Supply Chain Concerns...

What are you seeing?  This? Or this? Or somewhere in the middle? And then, how much of your money do you see going toward groceries compared to a year or so ago? Here, in SE Michigan, shelves are pretty stocked, albeit with fewer choices of the same kind of food or product, and in addition, prices are up noticeably on meat, seafood, and 'luxury items' like cheese and so forth. If you would, provide your observations in the comments.

Clarification on 'Monopolies' in Business:  I do not support the monopolizing any industry that offers a product or service to John and Jane Q. Public.  I whole-heartedly support competition once the manufacturing or service industry sees a way to compete with the larger market share owner.  I believe in, and support, 'the invisible hand' of the market , to which I allude to in forcing prices down by not purchasing the two major conglomerates' products, opting for small, independent producers, who, while most likely a bit more expensive, provide what the shooting public wants, and also sends a very clear message to the big boys:  "lower your pricing or we won't buy from you....ever." Interesting perspective over at Zero Hedge on the cost of ammo to consumers.  Smacks of capitalism, ie, 'supply and demand' with 'profit motive' thrown in for good measure.   Yes, ammo is going to cost more for the foreseeable future.  So is everything els

FAST and the 5 B's....

Via the Recce Room . I would like to ad a '+1' to what the Recce Room says about, 'Appleseed' training.  It is a great fundamentals class, so far as it goes.  And that's it.   Training with your rifle or pistol is a whole 'nother thing.  To that end, here's a video from 'Gomez-training.com' to explain exactly how one performs FAST and the 5 B's. Key excerpt from the Gomez-training.com post (emphasis added): "One of the best ways that I’ve seen to address it is the “Wyatt protocol,” which is named for Lyle Wyatt. Those who have been around long enough to remember the grand ol' days of the Soldier of Fortune 3 gun matches will remember that 2 of the big guys heavily involved were Lyle Wyatt and Michael Horne. Lyle Wyatt was a friend of Andy Stanford, whose first training company was MMI (the Martial Marksmanship Institute). It was focused on providing close up rifle training to the military, particularly marines in southern California. L

My Absolute Favorite 'Go To' Self-Defense Pistol Ammo...

One or 'tother:  Federal Hydra Shok or HST Above is a comparison pic of Hydra Shok & HST.  I was introduced to Hydra Shok in 1994 while still on active duty by some Omaha PD SWAT guys I trained with 'off the clock.'  I had been introduced to them by a former team member of mine who ETS'd in Omaha and became a very, very good gunsmith.  I liked it so much it became my exclusive self-defense ammo.  I bought my last hydra shok some years ago, and still have around 500 rounds.  A few years ago, one of my nephews introduced me to HST, after he heard me complaining I couldn't find any Hydra Shok on the market.  So, I tried some HST out, and have never looked back.  HST is in my pistol when I carry (just about 24X7) no matter the caliber.  It's just plain great ammo!  Make no mistake, I still love Hydra Shok, and I'd carry either with no qualms whatsoever... Read the article at Wideners , as the ammo has an interesting history. What is your favorite, 'Go To

Want to Lose Weight?

I am not a medical or health professional.  The following description is my own observation. No magic pills; no fad diets.  The formula is simply a combination of two things: 1 - Stop using alcohol.  Period.  It turns to sugar and sugar turns to unusable fat.  Translate that to mean 'extra weight and girth.'  You don't have to be the subject of an intervention or have a DUI to decide not to use it.  You can simply decide, "I'm done."  Having something to motivate you will help you, though, if you're a 1 to 3 drinks per night person like I was.  The really neat thing is that you'll save a metric ton of money; near as I can figure, we now save about $300 a month by not buying alcoholic beverages.  I decided to do this on August 30th.  Haven't had a drop, and don't plan on it.  It's been 4 months now without a slip.  I lost 18 pounds from that decision, and sticking to it, give or take, over that time. 2 - Start walking.   A lot.  Indoors or
