Weekend Reading...

If you haven't read James Tarr's, "Dog Soldiers," you would do yourself a solid in doing so.  Very entertaining and instructive, especially for anyone who doesn't have a really good idea what 'Military Operations on Urbanized Terrain' (MOUT) is about.  The new doctrine label is, "CQB."  I'm old school; the older name covers more of the spectrum of city fighting; at least in my book (no pun intended).

Anyway, get this and read it.  You'll be glad you did.  You can get it on Amazon

  1. This was an excellent book. Loved being able to visualize exactly where they were...

    1. Yeah, that, and in the course of everyday travels, going to some of the exact places.... he's a good author, and he hails and lives/lived in SE Michigan.

If you're around that area, shoot me an email.

    2. Thanks for the heads up on this book, am reading currently. My guess is the ditch is 696.
I agree with Joe, interesting to visualize the places

    3. Yup, and the Slash is, 'The Lodge,' I think....or Woodward. 'The President,' is Coolidge....pretty neat the way he lays it out; natives have a much better chance at deciphering. Tarr's also got a series out called, 'Failure Drill.' VERY good reading!
