  Adversity in Training... KNOW THIS:   OPFOR will not have any mercy on you because you’re ‘just a regular guy’.   They have a thing for ‘regular guys’, though, because they don’t fight back.   Lately, one faction of OPFOR, ISIS, has a penchant for cutting heads off of journalists with a 6 inch blade dagger.   You know….sawing through?   With the pain of a knife that allows the victim to scream until the vocal chords are cut.   Sawing through the neck tendons, arteries, esophagus, and spinal cord, with the victim able to feel   everything until losing consciousness.    Don’t make the mistake of thinking the other factions of OPFOR won’t do things similar or worse.   Don’t make the mistake of thinking the things happening into the Middle East can’t happen here. Time to take out your rifles, pistols, and associated equipment and kit and clean, lubricate, re-size from winter wear to temperate/hot wear sizing, and generally get your kit together for warm weather Neighborhood Protection Team ops as appropriate.   While you are at it, do some comm checks with your radios, whichever type you have, and ensure all your batteries are charged and spares are also loaded in your kit.   If you don't have one yet, get a Ham Technician's license.  It lets you practice before SHTF with other hams, and gets you to be a known entity on their net.  They will feed you info they come across if they know you.  It's worth the time and money.  If you haven't already, go to AmRRON and learn (and join). UPDATE:   I prepped a 'cage' as described below in a .50 cal can.  Very snug fit of cardboard, and it fits 4 hand held radios, three 6 inch antennas, one 15 inch antenna, 4 fully charged lithium batteries, 1 charger, and 1 field capable throat mic & ear piece set up.  All wrapped and insulated.  Very compact kit.   So, if we get an EMP event or get cyber attacked to the point of taking out the grid and causing localized EMP events, maybe this will have been worth the time, which was, all told, about an hour.   We'll see. ................................................................. Based on all the highly intelligent decisions coming out of DC, you MIGHT want to err on the side of caution and have at LEAST one of these water barrels for every two people in your household...filled.....now that the weather is getting warmer.  Might be a long, hot, DRY summer for any number of reasons.  A barrel for every 2 people is prudent.  It will give you 3 weeks of water (plus or minus) per person at a gallon (give or take) each per day.  That amount includes cooking, hygiene, and hydration.  Note the pump.  This one comes from, 'SOS Survival Products,' here .
